Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) is powering forward with its green energy ambitions, officially launching the prequalification process for a 42.5 MWac solar PV plant and a 3 MW / 4.5 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at its iconic Seven Forks hydro complex.
[pdf] It will be built in collaboration with the German company Hyper Partners for $350 million. This project includes the first phase of a 200 MW solar power plant set to be online this year. The entire solar power project will be operational by 2025.
[pdf] Germany has concluded a recent tender for innovative renewable energy projects. The exercise drew 158 bids with a total capacity of 2,020 MW. The authorities awarded 29 projects with a total capacity of 486 MW. All selected projects were for PV plants combined with energy storage.
