We design our solar systems for Solomon Island's hot temperatures and remote, rural conditions. We only use lithium batteries; quality components from manufacturers like Deye and Victron Energy, and we ensure that we 'oversize' the amount of solar power to keep batteries fully charged.
[pdf] Although nearly all households in the Cook Islands are connected to grid electricity, only 5.5% of households have additional solar photovoltaic systems installed, and 1% use small diesel generators. Several actions have taken place throughout the islands to increase the uptake of renewable energy.
[pdf] The Cook Islands in the Pacific will host a 5.6MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system for the integration of renewables, in a project funded by the Asian Development Bank, European Union and Global Environmental Fund.
