Lithuania added 240 MW of new solar capacity in the first half of 2025, bringing its total operational solar power to an impressive 1.7 GW. This significant increase is accompanied by a boost in battery storage capacity, with a newly added 58 MW bringing the total to 282 MW.
[pdf] The Fluence Storage system is operating as an integral part of the Lithuanian power transmission system – increasing grid reliability through voltage management and emergency reserve, supporting Lithuania’s energy independence, advancing decarbonisation agenda, and synchronisation with CEN.
[pdf] Located near Vilnius, this project will be the country’s first commercial battery storage facility and is expected to increase Lithuania’s total storage capacity by approximately 50%. The system is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2025.
